Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) is making moves to begin competing with the likes of FedEx (NYSE: FDX) & UPS (NYSE: UPS) by opening up delivery service.
Amazon is launching “Buy with Prime”, a feature that would be placed on other retailers’ websites that allows customers to purchase using information stored on their Amazon accounts.
The feature will be available to Amazon’s 200+ million Prime subscribers, where they can click on the Prime logo on other websites & have their purchases delivered within 1-2 days. Amazon would get a fee from the seller varying by order.
Why this matters
Amazon is aiming high regarding its online delivery service. The company wants to offer 1-2 day shipping in more markets, & has already invested billions of dollars into expanding its physical presence throughout the years.
