Starbucks (NASDAQ: SBUX), which recently hired its ex-CEO for a third term, has appointed a new Chief Technology Officer to oversee changes to the drive-thru, mobile application, and other features.

Starbucks hired Deb Hall Lefevre, a McDonald’s executive. Lefevre will likely be tasked with increasing customer personalization on the app, as well as making sure baristas are spending more time with customers.
Why this matters
Starbucks has been seeing a growing union movement at a number of its branches. Baristas have been feeling burnt out from the amount of mobile orders received. Starbucks’ CEO had recently suspended share buybacks, potentially freeing up billions for investment.
