The Clap
Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) has finally launched its new Self Service Repair online store.
Backstory
In November of last year, Apple announced its plans to allow its product holders to fix their gadgets themselves using authentic Apple parts & tools.
The deets
Apple will provide consumers with more than 200 parts & tools to repair the iPhone 12, iPhone 13 & iPhone SE. While the service will initially launch in the U.S., it plans to expand to Europe by the end of 2022. It also plans to offer repair for certain Mac computers by the end of the year.
Why this matters
Consumers have been pressuring regulators arguing for their “right to repair”. However, Apple maintains that visiting a certified technician remains the “safest and most reliable way to get a repair.”
