The Clap
Well, he didn’t lie in his tweet. After filings reported last Thursday that Musk had sold almost $4 billion worth of Tesla shares, he upped his selling to $8.5 billion.
Backstory
Elon Musk needs to come up with $21 billion for the equity financing part of the $44 billion Twitter takeover. He now secured $8.5 billion, leaving him $12.5 billion to go.
Why this matters
Assuming Musk stays true to his tweet, he will have to look elsewhere for a little over a dozen billion dollars. It’s noteworthy that Musk owns a 43.61% stake in SpaceX, which is reportedly valued at $100 billion.
