The Clap
In their latest update, Facebook has divided its main page to include two parts.
The Deets
The first part will have posts related to each user’s friends and family on FB. This part will be categorized under “feeds” and will be organized based on the timing of the posts.
The second part will be called “home” and will have suggested public posts for users to view. The views which appear will be based on algorithms that track user’s interests.
With this update, Facebook increases in similarity to Tiktok. Both applications will now track the user’s interests in order to show content that will attract the user, in addition to content posted by family and friends.
Why does this matter?
Meta and Facebook are competing to become the leading social media platform. This move by Meta is an effort in order to attract more users, who are one of the main drivers of success.
