The Clap
A U.K. watchdog, the Competition & Markets Authority (CMA), could be the reason Microsoft’s acquisition of gaming giant Activision Blizzard falls through.
The Deets
The CMA wants Microsoft to ensure other games will be sold on what would be Microsoft-owned platforms, something Microsoft already said it would do.
So What
The CMA is the same watchdog that resulted in the collapse of Nvidia’s acquisition of ARM last year, as it thought it would hurt competition in the market for semiconductors.
Now What
If Microsoft doesn’t respond swiftly to the CMA’s concerns, the CMA will be more aggressive in its probe of the deal.
