The Clap
Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) just announced a range of new products, including the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, an all-new Apple Watch, new AirPods, and a partnership with Globalstar (NYSE: GSAT).
The Deets
The biggest surprise during the Apple event is that Apple did not increase the price of its new iPhone models, despite inflationary pressures and supply chain disruptions. The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus will cost $799 and $899 respectively. The iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will cost $999 and $1,099 respectively and includes a whole array of new features.
Apple also revealed a partnership with Globalstar which enables iPhone 14’s antennas to connect directly to a satellite in areas not connected by cell towers as part of an emergency satellite service. Globalstar will allocate 85% of its network capacity to support this feature.
Apple also introduced the Apple Watch Ultra and a redesigned Apple Watch SE. The Apple Watch Ultra targets outdoor athletes and is deemed the most rugged and capable watch model in their lineup.
Apple also announced a revamped version of the AirPods Pro.
Why this Matters
The Apple Keynote Speech is one of the most anticipated events on Apple’s calendar. During the event, the company reveals its long-awaited products to the world, and is generally when the company sees people’s first impressions to the developments of its products.
What Now
The new iPhones are set to be available on Friday. The Apple Watches will be available starting Wednesday whereas the new AirPods Pro will be released on September 23.
