Saudi low-cost airline “Flynas” is set to establish local units in two more countries in a bid to expand overseas.
What
These local units will cement the company’s position as the largest discount airline in the Middle East and one of the 5 biggest discount airlines globally.
The company will need Air Operator Certificates to establish units in the two countries, which have not yet been named.
So What
This is a serious step from KSA in diversifying the economy and decreasing reliance on the oil industry. The country is investing heavily in the aviation industry in a bid to make KSA a top tourist destination by 2030.
Now What
A part of these investments includes the establishment of a new airline and airport, which will be owned by the Public Investment Fund.
