The Egyptian government is currently in negotiations with Serbia to purchase one million tons of wheat.
Serbia is considered one of the largest wheat exporters in the world, with a production volume of 2.6 million tons in 2021.
Egypt is one of the largest importers of wheat globally, with now-in-war Russia as its main supplier, leading Egypt to seek alternative suppliers.
Serbia does not typically export more than one million tons of wheat per season, & the US Department of Agriculture predicts that its sales for this year will be 600,000 tons, according to Bloomberg.
