The Clap
Manchester United (NYSE:MANU) has received acquisition offers from several suitors as a potential bidding war begins to brew.
What
The Glazer family now has a few options as to what path they will take with the club, with bids coming in from a member of the Qatari royal family, Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad J.J. Al Thani, and Britain’s richest man, Jim Ratcliffe.
Qatar’s opening bid could value Manchester United at around $6 billion.
In addition, Elliott Management has offered to help finance acquisition offers for the club, but will not actually bid for the club itself.
So What
Both bidders are big fans of Manchester United and would like to see and drive the club back to glory. A deal for Manchester United will possibly become the biggest takeover for a sports club on record.
Now What
Qatar has considered the possibility of acquiring majority stakes in European powerhouses Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool FC, while they already own Paris Saint Germain.
