The infrastructure team for EV charging stations, led by the Saudi Ministry of Energy, announced that it has completed all aspects related to the installation of charging stations and their equipment.

The Deets
The Water and Electricity Regulatory Authority (WERA) revealed the regulatory framework for charging EVs.

In addition to that, the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing (MOMRAH) has issued technical requirements for car chargers that include regulations, licenses, and services for the locations of charging stations.

The Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization also issued regulations and technical specifications for these chargers.

Companies interested in operating or investing in the charging stations can apply through an electronic platform, after completing the regular procedures for installing these chargers.

Why this Matters
The new regulations help in achieving KSA’s Vision for 2030, which is to make its economy more diversified and sustainable.
